Hoping or developer to update Android TV support. And bumping the right thumbstick causes control issues - cannot find way of remapping. Update Force-closes in multiple games (especially with multiple players, it seems). I will update this if/when I manage to figure out how to fix the controller support. I know this isnt' a very detailed guide currently, but if I would have found this information earlier, it would have saved me a lot of searching, so hopefully it helps someone. There doesnt seem to be a way to use save states with the emulator? Thankfully, in-game saves seem to always work. This is the biggest remaining issue for me, as when someone bumps the right thumbstick, their controls get messed up (their character will be running around on its own, and/or attacking on its own) and usually requires a restart of the emulator to fix. The one thing I will say is that you cant use the triggers to map to (bumpers you can tho), and the right thumbstick is all kinds of messed up. It's pretty straight-forward, not much to it, so I'm not going to go into much detail here. The input needs to be configure in the Reicast settings. I KNOW that I can't link to this, but if you Google, you will surely stumble across a paradise of emulation-related files out there. They can come in different file formats, and some have been hit or miss for me, but I've have the most luck with. I'm not sure on the legality of linkage here, but just Google and ye shall find. You need a Dreamcast BIOS file (which is actually 2 different files (dc_boot.bin and dc_flash.bin), which you stick in the "data" folder inside the Reicast folder. You want to scroll down that page and download the version specifically for Android TV (under feat/android-tv-xml). However, if you get the latest r7 android build (from here ) it will work a lot better, but still issues. It is release r6, which came out quite a while ago, and r7 has been available for some time. The version of Reicast that you find on the play store doesn't work right (i've gone through so many versions of different emus, I can't rememeber exactly why). Reicast is the emulator you want to use - that much wasn't too hard to figure out I couldn't find any guides or very many resources on how to accomplish this, so I thought I'd document my efforts, in hopes of creating one for future strugglers. It has been a struggle to get everything working (truth be told, I'm still working on it), but I'm happy with the progress I've made.ĭreamcast was one of the best and most under-rated consoles ever, IMO. My main goal was to get it set up as an emulation machine, to play all of my childhood favorites more conveniently. So last weekend I picked up a Shield TV and, overall, have been loving it.
